Frequently Asked Questions

Where is Ernest located?

Ernest Restaurant is located in San Francisco’s Mission District. Our address is 1890 Bryant, however you’ll find our entrance located on the back side of this building at the corner of Florida & Mariposa. If you’re coming by car or cab, turn right onto Mariposa when you’ve arrived at this address and you’ll find the entrance at the next corner behind our gated patio.

Where should we park?

There are no close by parking lots but there is plenty of non-permitted street parking available within a block or two of the restaurant.

Where is the closest SF Public Transportation?

The closest BART station is the 16th Street Station. From there, you can take a ~12 minute walk or take the 22 Muni to the corner of 16th & Bryant for a shorter walk. The closest muni stops are on the 27 line on Bryant Street.

When do Ernest reservations open?

Do you do private events?

Yes! We’d love to help you host your next event at Ernest. Please reach out to us at info@ernestsf.com to start the conversation.

I have a question about my reservation, who do I reach out to?

You can get a hold of our reservation team at info@ernestsf.com or call us during our phone hours of Noon-4pm Wednesdays through Sundays.

What is your reservation policy? What if I’m running late?

As our space is limited, all tables are reserved for a specific amount of time. Parties of 2 are reserved for up to 2 hours, parties of 3-4 for 2.5 hours, and parties of 5 or more for 3 hours.

Do you seat late parties and/or incomplete parties?

If you or other members of your party are running late, we ask that you send us a text message in response to the texted reservation confirmation to let us know. The table will continue to be reserved for you, however the reserved window will always be from the original time reserved.

Similarly, we do seat incomplete parties however if your guests are running late, it should be noted that your table is reserved for a specific amount of time from the original reservation time, as noted above. If your guests can no longer join you, a partial cancellation fee may be incurred.

What is your cancellation policy?

Notice of your cancellation or any change to your party size must be provided by 12:00PM 2 days prior to your reservation. Any changes or cancellations inside of this window will be charged $50 per person.

We are unable to waive this fee for any reason.

Do you take walk ins?

We do! Walk ins are available nightly at our bar where we offer the full menu. Availability is offered on a first come, first served basis.

Do you have outdoor seating?

We currently only offer indoor dining. Reservations are available for our dining room and lounge tables in the bar area.

Do you accommodate children?

Of course! We do ask that you include children and babies in the total headcount for your reservation to ensure appropriate room at the table. We have highchairs for those who need them. We have limited space in our restaurant, so unfortunately we cannot accommodate strollers.

Do you accommodate vegetarian, vegan or other dietary restriction/allergy options on the “Let the Kitchen Cook for You” menu?

Our “Let the Kitchen Cook for You” menu fluctuates as our menu changes and always includes both seafood and meat. Vegetarian or special allergy requests must be made via email at least 48 hours in advance to ensure we’re able to accommodate your party. As the menu is served family style, the accommodations/adjustments will be made for the entire table. Please note, without an email reply from our team, we can not guarantee that a special tasting menu will be available. If you have not heard from us 48 hours prior to your reservation, please contact us during our phone hours (12pm-4pm Wednesdays through Sundays). We are unable to offer the “Let the Kitchen Cook for You” for vegan or guests that cannot have soy sauce.

Do you accommodate specific allergies or dietary restrictions?

Any allergies or dietary restrictions should be noted to our team at least 48 hours prior to your reservation for confirmation that the allergy is able to be accommodated. Please email our team at info@ernestsf.com with allergy or dietary restriction details. Please note the reservation name and date in the subject line.

Do you accommodate Gluten Free dining?

Soy sauce is included in the make up of many of our recipes. If you have a gluten sensitivity, but can handle soy sauce, much of our menu will still be accessible to you. If your gluten intolerance is more severe and you cannot have soy sauce, the menu options are going to be extremely limited.

Any gluten intolerance should be communicated to our team via email or phone at least 48 hours prior to your reservation for better understanding of what menu items will be suitable for your diet.

What are your corkage fees? Can I bring in my own wine?

Yes! We allow corkage at $40 per bottle (750ml or equivalent) for up to 2 bottles not listed on our wine list per reservation. Every bottle after that is $80 per bottle (750ml or equivalent per reservation). We do not allow corkage for contracted events.

Can I bring my own birthday cake or dessert for my party?

Yes! You can certainly bring in your own cake/dessert however there is a $9 per person cake/dessert fee.

Can I bring my dog in with me?

We love dogs, in fact many of us are dog owners. However, non-service dogs are not allowed in the restaurant. If you will be dining with a service dog, we appreciate knowing in advance.
